Tot Explorations: Spinners!

Hello again! Fall is here! Meaning sometimes the days are yucky and we stay indoors a lot. Here’s what we’re exploring this week!

This week I got a littl crafty and made him a “Spinner Toy” to play with.

We did “Knock, knock! Who’s there?” to find out what would show up behind each flap! I just cut a circle, used a brad to attach it to another piece of cardstock (off center so the spinner wheel shows up on the side). Then I cut a little door, attached stickers to the spinner, and off we went! It helps to mark the side of the spinner so you know where to stop for the next picture!

I have learned that little boys are rough on their games, so next time I’ll make the spinner out of cardboard, not cardstock! But he enjoyed finding the object behind the door each time – especially excited about the car! It was a great way for him to work on some vocabulary!

Another variation that I’d like to do is putting little pictures of family members on the spinner so he can see all his relatives! I just need ink for my printer and then I’ll make him a spinner for that too! I figure if I make it sturdier, I can make spinners for different objects so he can change them out!

Cute idea. And he seems quite entertained by it. I love seeing what your fridge looks like, too.
