Learning Fun with Educational Insights

I am very excited for this upcoming school year. I know, he’s just 18 months, but I am already planning out some fun learning activities for me to do with my son! (ever the teacher!).

I recently connected with a company called Educational Insights, which is very exciting for me as a former teacher! They have such a wide array of educational games and tools for parents and teachers!

Educational Insights, is the manufacturer of playful products with serious educational value, including subject-specific classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. Our products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that, first and foremost, learning must be fun.

They sent me a package full of goodies perfect for my son and family! I could hardly wait to break in and try them all! This week, I’ll be sharing with you some of the fun items I’ve been playing with lately!

Playfoam® Combo 8-pack – These sticky beads are so fun to press and shape, squish and squash. The texture and colors are great for young toddlers to experiment with! And, unlike paints and crayons, there is no mess. It doesn’t stick permanently to objects so you can take it anywhere! Just press the ball of Playfoam around to pick up any stray foamies, and put it away. It never dries out, so it’s a good arts and craft bargain! There haven’t been too many arts and crafts that I’ve been super-successful with at this age, so Playfoam has been a good option for my son to just mess around with! Ages 3-8. ARV $8.99. Also available in 4-packs and 20-packs!

KaBAM! ™ – As an English teacher, this was my favorite. We love Scrabble and Boggle in our family, so this word-game is a great addition! It’ll be awhile before my son can play this, but my husband and I had fun with it. Plus I like to have some games on hand for when friends and family come over! KaBAM! is a quick-thinking word-building game. You go head to head with another player to draw cards and build words off the letters you drew! You can even get in on the action at the Educational Insights Facebook page with their infamous Wordplay Wednesdays ! Ages 7+. ARV $12.99

Hot Dots Jr. & Hot Dots Colors – The talking, light up Hot Dots Jr. pen features “Ace” – the talking, teaching dog. This electronic pen gives encouragement when children select the right answer, and redirection when they choose the incorrect answer. It’s a quick way for kids to learn, discover and receive feedback! (ARV $12.99. 2 AAA batteries required, not included). The Hot Dots Jr. pen works with the Hot Dots Activity Card sets. We received the Colors card set, which comes in an attractive and sturdy carry box. This set helps kids work on skills like color matching, identifying colors, and practicing color words and combinations. These learning tools are a bit too advanced for my son right now (recommended for age 3+) but I have still been able to help him play with the pen and color cards a little bit. I think these would make a great game for vacations, when kids can lose a little of their learning from not being in school. It’s a fun way to keep them independently practicing their skills through play! Grades PreK+. $14.99.
