Happenings of the Harper Household

Another skipped week last week - to be honest, nothing seemed very different so… I didn’t want to bore you all!

Symptoms: Not much by way of hip / migraine pain. Super tired. My vein problems are growing so I went to a women’s health doctor to see what could be done… she recommended Nettles Tea, Horse Chestnut, and various foods like blueberries and buckwheat to help circulation. It gets very painful at times… And, I sometimes get short of breath after I stand up suddenly, which I wonder if this is related?

Weight Gain: 143 - holding steady!

Everything is tiring: From getting out of bed, to walking up yet another flight of stairs, to even the thought of blow drying my hair… I guess my “second wind” phase was short lived… maybe I’ll get a third wind?

My bellybutton: Is nearly gone. Yikes! I confess this aspect of the baby bump really grosses me out. I sorta would like to HAVE a belly button…

I love: Coffee, chocolate, ice cream, fruit. I just like to eat at this point. Sadly, my cooking skills seem to be declining as my bump is growing – I guess I don’t have the patience or attention span to get the food to come out right!

I wish: I wish I had taken measurements of my belly with my first son and with this one – it would be interesting to compare whether I am bigger or smaller than last time. I wish I had more time to reflect on the coming arrival of this new little one… I think about how I had the last 5 weeks before our first son’s birth at home with no work, and lots of time to relax and contemplate… (or rather, read a zillion baby books and worry about how it was all going to go!)… oh how lovely!

I also wish I had a maid… or that I could win this $100 Molly Maid giveaway over at Crunchy Beach Mama! :) Wouldn’t that be nice!!??

I still need to: Organize baby clothes, redo the kids’ closet (hee hee, did you read that? Kids, plural!? How fun!), create a downstairs changing station, plan some freezer meals, think about the possibility of a “BabyMoon” (only b/c our anniversary is a month before baby is due), and PICK A BABY NAME!!! And so much more!

Did you go on a BabyMoon before any of your children were born? Curious what you might have done to have a few moments of “quiet time” before the big day!

    You look great!

I thought babymoon’s were time that the parents spent bonding with the baby but looks like it’s interchangeable. With our first husband took time off work and with this one we stayed at a vacation rental. Honestly, I’d rather have been home and we all looked forward to leaving! Although we all took the time off (well hubby did) we haven’t had much bonding time with this little one because she’s a sleepy head. Not that I’m complaining! I’ve needed the rest too. :D

There actually is a way for you to make a bump comparison. Ask for a copy of your fundus measurements from your first pregnancy and compare similar week gestation measurements between baby 1 and baby 2.

With my pregnancy with P I moved towns with less than 2 months to go. ohhhh the cleaning up was awful. Even everyday vacuuming starts to hurt the back! SO hope you win a maid! (tell hubby hint hint for Mother’s Day)

    PS. I don’t know what a BabyMoon is…

Courtney, a Baby Moon is like a Honey Moon. People go on a couples only vacation without any kids before their baby arrives. I haven’t ever done that though. Also, I can relate to the moving while pregnant thing. I delivered my second born about two weeks after making a move 8 hours away. The day after my second doctor’s visit with my new doctor I delivered my daughter. Another time we moved a few miles away when I was 7 months pregnant and the mom of a 4, 2, and 1.5 y.o. Ahhhh. The memories!
