There we were… two days successfully into the New Year. The house was cleaned (more or less). Dinner was served and the kids were eating it (more or less).
And then.
Then he stuck a pea up his noseYep. And it’s not the child I thought would do it either. Those quiet, silent types, I tell ya!
No, it was my firstborn. The careful observer. The more timid of the two.
HE! Of all people – stuck a PEA up his nose!?!
I didn’t even believe him when he said, “Mommy, there’s a pea up my nose!” Then I looked, and sure enough a green globe stuck in orbit up one nostril.
I asked why…
(I know, I couldn’t help it). He said, “So the train could pull it out.”
Who knows… what really makes preschoolers do anything, right?
Thankfully, he snorted it out while I was googling what do to. Because Google told me to take him to the ER. And we’re having a snowstorm over here.
So. Thank you, my child, for that boogered pea and the stunned look on your face when it shot out of your nose. “It came out!” he exclaimed!
Thank you, God, for watching over my child… even when peas go up noses.
Of course, now I need to reprogram my 17 month old who watched the entire episode unfold.
Because, the little guy has been doing THIS lately:
Has your child ever stuck a pea (or other foriegn object) up their nose?! Do tell me about it!

My sister once got a small button up her nose. To this date I don't know how she did it, but I remember being in the hospital waiting room late at night grumpy and all. Glad the pea came out, but gross!

Oh! This brings back memories ... of a four-year-old being tied to a stiff board in the ER to keep her still while the docs pulled a couple of Nerds out of her ear! How lucky that he snorted it out! :)

LOVED this post and helped me start my day with a smile. Had to come over tonight to see what E. was up to. So fun at your house! :)
