Wee Gallery Art for Babies

Recently I posted on developing a baby of “culture” vs. fashion. I’m also not one for toys that do the work for your kid, need batteries, or make annoyingly loud noises. Which is why I love love love the quiet beauty of Wee Gallery Art Cards! These cards are more than just a “toy” – they are part art, part story, part visual stimulation, part education.
My Experience: I have been familiar with Wee Gallery for a few years when I began giving their art cards as gifts to my new mom friends. I knew my mom readers would love to be introduced to this great find!
Wee Gallery graciously donated their newest set, the Black & White Collection, for this review/giveaway, and we’ve been having great fun sharing them with our baby. The Black & White Collection features unique animals like the Ring-Tailed Lemur and an Anteater! Very unique! This set shows the name of the animal on the back with a picture of what the animal eats, great for educating little ones as they grow!
Since I’ve been using Wee Gallery art cards, I have discovered these cards are truly versatile! Sometimes, we hang the cards from the stylishly modern stainless steel Kikkerland mobile sold by Wee Gallery. Our little guy likes to be held up to look at the cards slowly rotating, or lie underneath and watch them spin.
Another thing to love about these cards is they help mom and dad interact more with baby – we don’t like to just “plop” him down with a toy as a babysitter all the time. These cards help us to communicate with our baby by making up silly stories about the animals or telling him animal facts. Because the Jungle set has opposing patterns on the front and back, I have fun making up “night and day” stories about the animals as I flip the card back and forth for each part of the story.
Beyond mobiles, storytelling, and learning fun, Wee Gallery designs are wonderfully whimsical and will make great framed prints to decorate the baby’s bedroom when he gets a little older. We love that he is mesmerized by these delightful art designs instead of television! I highly recommend Wee Gallery Art Cards for your baby’s viewing enjoyment and to add a little “art culture” into his or her early life!
About the Company: Started by husband/wife team Dave and Surya, Wee Gallery creates “Small Art for Little Minds.” From birth, babies can see and enjoy high-contrast repeating patterns. Rather than limit baby’s viewing pleasure to simple black lines drawn on paper (which can get a little boring!), Surya, an artist, began developing black and white art that kept their little boy amused well into his toddler years. Wee Gallery says:

Wee Gallery art cards are created from bold, whimsical, hand-painted originals that cater to a baby’s visual strengths. The black and white images and their repeating patterns captivate little ones. Place them in the crib to transform it into a wee gallery or use them as flash cards for older children.

About the Product: Wee Gallery offers 9 different animal print art card sets. Each boxed set contains six 5×7” black and white animal prints and sells for $12.95/set on their website. The cards are made of sturdy matte laminate to withstand a child’s play and have rounded corners so nobody gets an eye poked out! Wee Gallery also offers wall decals, letterpress prints, greeting card stationary, wrapped canvas prints and more. Wee Gallery has a fun freebie for you too! Download a sample art card or iron-on patch to share with your baby!

Those cards are absolutely beautiful! I like the idea of introducing children to high-quality art from a very young age. My favorite is the Woodlands Collection because we are a family that loves to spend time outdoors. In fact, we just saw deer on our hike a few weeks ago! :)stephanie@metropolitanmama.net

The black and white cards really caught my daughters attention when she was little. Now I have a niece who would benefit from these!!
