Ways to dress kids for spring!

I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for OshKosh B’gosh. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping trip and to thank me for participating.

I feel a little like a farmer in winter… peering out the frosted panes and paging through catalogs, planning for spring by drawing up vacation schedules, organizing spring clothes, and shopping for new spring outfits for the boys.

Our oldest son’s birthday is at the end of February, making it the perfect time to ask for some warm weather clothes. And last week, I took a trip to our OshKosh outlet to check out the spring fashions! I love how their stores group items together on tables for mixing and matching, and provide mannequins and posters to give you ideas for pairings.

Sailing ships, pirates, stripes, and plaids will be the look this spring, from the displays I saw in stores. Also bright – very bright – colors, bordering on neon, without QUITE getting there. It’s perfect for pulling us out of the winter blahs!

Here’s a few ways to dress boys in spring fashions:

Layering is key! Never is layering more important than in a New England spring, where the weather is indeed fickle. I suggest three layers – tshirt, button down, hoodie… because you just never know!

Mix your patterns. For indecisive moms like me, pattern mixing styles are perfect. Stripes and checkers? No problem – mixing colors like this reminds me of the exciting mix of colors spring brings to the world too! Look for a button-down and hoodie that share a color or have complimentary colors like this navy stripe with salmon check shirt I got my son.

Button downs are casual! Let a checkered or denim button down serve as a lightweight “jacket” while at the same time pulling together an outfit into something more than just shorts and a tee.

Tone down brights with prints or deeper colors. At first glance, the boy’s tees were a bit loud to me. But matched with the green/blue/yellow plaid and then with a deep navy button down, the yellow octopus shirt my son wanted becomes more of an accent piece.

Classic, yet fresh styles!

I’ve always been a fan of OshKosh clothing for their durability and styles that are simultaneously classic, yet with fresh looks each season – perfect for handing down to siblings and friends because they will wear through multiple children and not seem dated.

With the entire store 40% off (and some Sail styles 50% off!) plus my coupon, I got three outfits for the boys from the new fashions. Each outfit was a three-piece combo of shorts, shirt and boys hoodies or another shirt.

Do you have an OshKosh B’gosh store near you? What will you be shopping for this spring for your kids?
