Celebrate The Resurrection ~ Easter Picture Books for Preschoolers

I'm really getting excited for Easter this year. Our family focuses on the Resurrection instead of chocolate and bunnies, but we still love to make the weeks leading up to the Day special with crafts, activities, and special books.

Zonderkidz sent me a lovely collection of Easter-themed and Bible story books for our review. I must say, these books have been perfect for enhancing our Bible time with our toddler and preschooler.

Easter Books for toddlers - preschoolers

An Easter Gift for Me by Crystal Bowman - a quick read for the very little, this die cut board book will introduce the main concept that Jesus came to die for our sins. Truly a great choice for the very young.

Goodnight, Angelsby Melody Carlson - such a sweet board book. A little boy says goodnight to all the important things in life and offers a prayer of thanks to God. Very enjoyable to read to little ones.

The Rhyme Bible Storybook for Toddlers by LJ Sattgast - I love the simplicity of these classic Bible stories (thirty-five of them!) set to fun to read aloud rhyme!

Easter Books for Preschool through age 7

The Legend of the Easter Egg by Lori Walburg (illustrated by Richard Cowdrey) - I love how this story turns the focus from candy to Christ. Using the ever-present Easter egg, we learn of one boy's growing faith as he learns the true meaning of Easter.

The Berenstain Bears Keep the Faith by Mike Berenstain - This book discusses a rather difficult topic - why some people don't believe God - with skill, and allow parents to explain faith to their children through the adventures of Brother and Sister Bear!

101 Bible Stories from Creation to Revelation (illustrated by Dan Andreasen) - A thorough collection of Bible stories perfect for family time or independent readers. Each story is just one page and each has an illustration featuring the main character or idea of the story. I love that this book covers many stories not typically included in shorter Bible reading books.

I'm more convinced than ever that it's important to place as much (if not greater) emphasis on the Resurrection story as we do on other Christian celebrations such as Christmas.

Easter - or as we say, Resurrection Sunday - is a BIG deal. For those of us who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Resurrection is really the foundation of our faith. I appreciate how these Easter books for preschoolers are not only great gift ideas for Easter baskets, but also help parents instruct children in serious truths about our faith.

Thanks to Zonderkidz for sending books for review. All opinions are my own.

  19. We always put on our super special Sunday best, aka Easter clothes. Head to church and come home to do some egg decorating and a mini hunt. While we decorate eggs and after the hunt we talk about what the eggs symbolize and why Easter is so special. There's normally a few good meals spread in throughout the day as well.

We have always talked about the Resurrection, long before Easter is here, but did see a lot of new ideas from pinterest that we are going to incorporate this year.
    Thanks for the chance.

  24. I work every weekend night so we usually have a quick Easter egg hunt on Saturday and dinner on Sunday before I go into work. Sadly enough, Easter isn't what it should be in this house but work is also important.
