It’s SPACE-ious in the Joovy Moon Room ~ Review

I just spent the past fifteen minutes trying to convince my husband that I could type out the opening score of 2001: Space Odessey for the beginning of this post. He wasn’t buying it. He said people might confuse the big drum roll (DUN-dun, DUN-dun, DUN-dun) with the Jaws theme song. Hmmm… I guess I could see that happening.

So… you don’t get the dramatic opening score but… I’m here to say the Joovy Moon Room is a dramatic piece of baby gear! (Hubby said it’s like a mixed martial arts fighting cage … for babies… I think he has his impending 4th degree black belt test on his mind!).We definitely needed a traveling playard for our rapidly growing baby. And the Moon Room is nothing if not SPACE-ious! (had to say it). There’s TEN square feet of play space (or sleep) so your baby has more room to roll around.-

Joovy certainly took a creative look at playards with their design. The shape is unique – sort of diamond on the bottom, but then square on the top. The sides taper in so it’s smaller around the top opening than the base. This actually saves you some space because it’s not a big boxy structure, but a sleek, modern looking playard.

I especially like how the tapered in sides allow me to reach in and pick up the baby no matter where he is in the Moon Room. Had the sides been squared I would not have been able to reach all the way across! (Although watch out, because these sides also become a tempting “climbing wall” for toddlers!).

The six “facets,” as I call them, of the Moon Rooms side mesh panels give baby unique views of what is happening in the world!

The Joovy Moon Room is definitely larger than your average playard, but it packs up just as quickly and easily. The bottom folds into quarters to remove it, then becomes a wrap-around for the frame. The frame has a hinge on each bar to lower the sides and fold it up – just like every playard I’ve used, so there was no learning curve at all!

We love the Moon Room here at our house and use it daily for play and sleep! I can’t wait until our baby is standing as I think then the experience will become even more enjoyable for him! In the meantime, we’re having a blast with this sleek new playard! Oh, and another perk, it’s big enough for BOTH my boys to play in it together! For now… 🙂 I hear it’s great for twins too!
