We love trying new restaurants and especially enjoy the chance to expose our kids to new foods, places, and faces.
This past weekend, we brought the kids out on a restaurant review trip to Bonefish Grill. The location at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor, Connecticut recently started offering a lunch menu (starting at 11:00 a.m., perfect for tiny diners who need to nap by 1 p.m.!).
The dining area is modern and pleasantly decorated, and in warm weather, they have outdoor dining, which is where we headed! It was simply too gorgeous to stay indoors, even though there ARE cool fish sculptures on the wall!
Our boys loved the kids’ coloring book / menu and crayons provided; it’s quite an elaborate book in full color with coloring, mazes, games, and trivia. The kids’ menu is on the back and includes offerings like Grilled Fish, Grilled Chicken, Mac & Cheese, and the standard Chicken Fingers and Cheeseburger. Sides include Parmesan Fries, and any of the other sides on the adult menu.
Try their specialty non-alcoholic drinks: Hand-squeezed Lemonade (super-deliciously tart!), or Blackberry Smash, a delicate sparkling fruit juice of sorts, embellished with real blackberries and mint springs.
I love fish tacos, so I ordered the BFG Baja Tacos, a decadent platter of spice-encrusted tilapia mounded with a green dressing and chopped mango salsa, drizzled with sour cream. I could’ve gobbled up another plateful of these tacos – the spiciness was just the right “hot” without burning your tastebuds, and the sweet notes of mango balanced the heat.
Hubby devoured his Surf n’ Turf burger: Kobe beef burger piled high with spicy shrimp drenched in creamy sauce. I’m not a shrimp person, but it looked lovely.
We all ate the Parmesan Fries, which were tasty, but I think next time I’ll ask for a little extra Parmesan if possible! Love extra cheese!
The dessert special we just could NOT pass up: Smores!? Yum! Warm flatbread slathered with Nutella, mini chocolate chips and cashews is topped with four generous dollops of marshmallow lightly toasted. Do you think our kids liked this treat? Let’s see:
Two things that especially impressed us at Bonefish Grill was how our server asked us if we wanted the juice we ordered for the kids cut with water. I’ve never been asked this at a restaurant before, and I really appreciated it. The second was, when we finished our lunch, the server wrote the date and restaurant name on our take-home box. So helpful when trying to figure out, “What is this? And how long have I had it?” when you’re looking through the fridge! It’s the little things!
Bonefish Grill lunch was delicious, and I’d love to stop in again for their dinner menu! We’re definitely going back!
Have you dined at a Bonefish Grill restaurant? What’s your favorite dish?
Thanks to Bonefish Grill for providing a complimentary meal in exchange for posting. All opinions are my own.

I've never eaten at a Bonefish Grill. I've heard many good things about it, and I didn't realize before this post just how kid friendly it is. Next time we have an opportunity, it is a must do!

I'm getting hungry looking at that delicious food! Yum! I've never been to a Bonefish Grill, although I've never heard of them. Not sure if there's any close to me or not...
