Music Together – a family experience

I look forward to this weekend with a sad note in the air… it’s our final Music Together class for this session.

I’ll miss gathering in a circle to sing Hello, Everybody…

Hopping like a bunny to Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit (one of my son’s favorites that he likes to shout out loud in the car!)…

Singing Two Little Kitty Cats, while our son races to the window to see if there are cats outside!

Rolling bouncy balls across the room and singing Robby Rolls a Round Ball!

Rocking back and forth to The Little Bells of Winchester …

And watching our son chase the other kids around, watch everybody singing, turning around in circles, or collapsing in our laps to sing with us!

It’s all been so much fun, and a great learning experience for our entire family. Our son now sings many of the songs either on his own or with me (still doesn’t sing in class!). I think his vocabulary has increased dramatically over these past weeks, along with his love for music. Every morning now, he runs to the stereo and says, “Push ‘Da Button! Moo-sick on!” It’s so great to see him enjoying music so much!

Music Together is a lovely family / mixed ages music experience. Ten-week sessions in small groups where children can sing, clap, dance, play, and learn about rhythm and music alongside their siblings and parents.

There are nine different units in the Music Together program, so you can sign up for many sessions in a row before you’ll hear a repeat course! Our course was the Bells one, which I loved – so pretty and fun! We are hoping to sign up for another class soon! Until then, I’d love for you to check out Music Together in your area – classes run about $190 (less in summer), and are free for babies under 8 months if they have a registered sibling. A beautifully illustrated songbook and two CDs; one for car and one for home, are included!

Have you taken a music class like this with your kids? What were the benefits for you and your children? OR, why would this kind of class interest you?

Thanks to Music Together for offering a class for review, and a giveaway to share with my readers!

I have not taken a music class with my daughter, but I'd love the opportunity. My daughter loves singing. I frequently sing to her, especially at night when I'm nursing. At church, I sometimes tap on her {gently} the beat to what we're singing.

We've done Kindermusik, and my son really REALLY likes it. I've heard really good things about Music Together, though, and I've been wanting to try them out.

We haven't taken a music class yet but it looks like a lot of fun. I imagine my daughter would have a blast with the instruments!
