I look forward to this weekend with a sad note in the air… it’s our final Music Together class for this session.
I’ll miss gathering in a circle to sing Hello, Everybody…
Hopping like a bunny to Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Rabbit (one of my son’s favorites that he likes to shout out loud in the car!)…
Singing Two Little Kitty Cats, while our son races to the window to see if there are cats outside!
Rolling bouncy balls across the room and singing Robby Rolls a Round Ball!
Rocking back and forth to The Little Bells of Winchester …
And watching our son chase the other kids around, watch everybody singing, turning around in circles, or collapsing in our laps to sing with us!
It’s all been so much fun, and a great learning experience for our entire family. Our son now sings many of the songs either on his own or with me (still doesn’t sing in class!). I think his vocabulary has increased dramatically over these past weeks, along with his love for music. Every morning now, he runs to the stereo and says, “Push ‘Da Button! Moo-sick on!” It’s so great to see him enjoying music so much!
Music Together is a lovely family / mixed ages music experience. Ten-week sessions in small groups where children can sing, clap, dance, play, and learn about rhythm and music alongside their siblings and parents.
There are nine different units in the Music Together program, so you can sign up for many sessions in a row before you’ll hear a repeat course! Our course was the Bells one, which I loved – so pretty and fun! We are hoping to sign up for another class soon! Until then, I’d love for you to check out Music Together in your area – classes run about $190 (less in summer), and are free for babies under 8 months if they have a registered sibling. A beautifully illustrated songbook and two CDs; one for car and one for home, are included!
Have you taken a music class like this with your kids? What were the benefits for you and your children? OR, why would this kind of class interest you?

I have not taken a music class with my daughter, but I’d love the opportunity. My daughter loves singing. I frequently sing to her, especially at night when I’m nursing. At church, I sometimes tap on her {gently} the beat to what we’re singing.

We’ve done Kindermusik, and my son really REALLY likes it. I’ve heard really good things about Music Together, though, and I’ve been wanting to try them out.

I grew up in a very musical family, and I loved it. As a teenager, developing a talent helped me feel like I had self worth and identity. I want to do the same thing for my kids, and I think music can bring a lot of joy and opportunity to their lives. So many of my favorite memories are related to music.

I think music is so important to children. My older daughter gets so much joy from playing her flute, and I am always looking for ways to involve my younger daughter in music as well.

I took my kids to Music Together classes before..it was a lot of fun! My daughter was about 7 months old and mesmerized. My son was 2 and couldn’t sit still for circle time but he liked the drums and that he was able to play instruments.

We adore music play and sometimes instead of quiet time we do “soft” music. My husband self taught on a 12 string and my boys love to sing, drum and string along. It soothes their overwhelmed minds too.

My 2year old daughter loves music. She’s been playing my brother’s acoustic guitar lately, and to be honest…she’s not bad! She also loves playing on her piano.

We love music and play all the time. This would be wonderful to help share the love of music and also helps with rhyming and learning

My daughter loves music, hopefully she will get her musical ability from her father and not me. She sings and dances to any sound she hears. This is a great set that makes making music easy for even the smallest musician.

My little man loves music. His favorite part of our local kids museum is the music rooms. He has so much fun banging on drums and dancing around. It is very funny to watch him entertain.

I have tried several trial music classes (including Music Together, Musikgarten, sing-alongs) with my now 19 month old boy, starting when he was about 7 months old. While I feel that music exposure is SO important for kids from a young age, my little guy is still a bit to crazy for formal classes. He has no interest in participating and just wants to escape (literally). Instead, I try to sing to him a lot at home, which he really likes. I am hoping that once he settles down a bit, he will be ready to enjoy classes. I think Music Together is great, for the record!!

I think this is great. I would love this as a gift for all the kids in my family. I have been waiting until my little brother is old enough to really get him interested in music. I am wanting to teach him to play guitar.

I have taken music together with both of my children. I have to say out of all of the classes we have taken at various places (and there have been MANY), my children loved our Music Together classes the most and seemed to get the most out of them too.

We’ve been thinking about doing music together for a while. Have a friend that might be putting a group together soon–I think it looks like so much fun!

We’ve been taking our 2 1/2 year old to Music Together classes since he was 10 months old! As a trained opera singer myself and with my husband being a drummer in a punk band (hey, opposites attract right?) – we initially were sold on the concept and program just as a way to get our boy involved in music at an early age. Then we started having to go to speech therapy at 18 months…fast forward a year and our therapist constantly is amazed at the progress our son makes because of the musical and social stimulation he gets from his weekly class. There’s no end in sight to our attendence and our son’s prognosis for his apraxia is very positive as a result 🙂

I think it’s absolutely amazing what music can do to anyone’s life. I started my 14 month old in Music Together shortly after my husband left for boot camp. We knew this was going to be a rough time for us mentally and physically. He always knew when it was time for music class and he learned things I never thought he could learn at that age. He is now 2 and a half and we have stayed in Music Together even through 2 moves. It is one of the constant things in his life right now. We are lucky to have found such amazing teachers. He really responds well to the music, instrument play and dancing. We even do it at home. Now that Daddy is home, he joins us as well. We also sing the songs in the car and around the house. “Great Big Stars” has become part of our bedtime routine…and guess who picked it? My son! It really is a great way to bond with your family and I know that exposing our son to music at an early age will help with his development. Thanks you Music Together! 🙂

I am not musically inclined what so ever, but my husband is. He plays quite a few instruments and wants so badly for our boys to love music the way he does. My oldest used to LOVE LSU marching band music (DH played tuba!) and it was on in the car ALL THE TIME. he’s kinda lost interest, but now my youngest son is picking it up. We have got to get these boys into music!

My oldest is 9 and he did music together, so we are fan favorites to the program! My youngest, 15 months starts screaming when we enter the parking lot where music together is held! He loves loves loves Ms Janet too! What is most amazing to me is when we get home from class, he is babbling non-stop!!! LOVE MUSIC TOGETHER!

I am not posting this as an entry to the giveaway, I just wanted to say I AM SO GLAD how many other people love Music Together. My mother has been our county’s director for as long as I can remember, which is to say about 11 years (she started teaching when I was 5 and my sister 2), so director probably more like 5-7 years. I am not entirely sure. And while the music is permanently ingrained in my subconscious (Bittity Bittity Bum Bum will forever be my favorite), I never really got to experience the development MT brings to toddlers since I was already past that stage of life. But I will take my children to classes as soon as they are born (in like 10 years ;-), for MT is an experience no child should be denied.

My baby boy is 9 months old and loves music. He sings along when we sing to him and if he’s fussy, he’ll usually stop as soon as we sing to him. We haven’t done a music class before, but I think it’s something that he would enjoy- in fact, I’ve been trying to incorporate a more structured music time with him- though a class would be nice because he could interact with other babies/kiddies.
I’m really sorry, I didn’t realize that I posted a comment three times- I thought it didn’t post, which is why I posted again. I can’t figure out how to delete the extra comments. Sorry!!

My baby boy is almost 9 months old and loves music!! If he’s fussy and we start singing, he usually stops right away. He loves when we sing to him and he loves songs with movement. We’ve never done a music class with him yet, but it seems like it would be a lot of fun and it would be a neat way to get our little family doing something together- though we sing to him, it would be good to be out and meet other babies/kids/families.

My daughter has a phonologic disorder, which prevents her from putting sounds into words and phrases…however, music has her singing, which leads to talking and I would love to incorporate this into her skill therapy

My 6yr old and 1.5yr old would absolutely LOVE this!!!! My fiancee bought my daughter a Barbie guitar when our son was still an infant and now they fight over it like crazy because they both want to play the guitar, sing and dance for us. Which is just sooo cute! My mom has a bunch of acoustic guitars as well and both my daughter and son (I also have a 2m old son) love to play on grandma’s guitars. In fact my daughter has pretty much adopted one of grandma’s guitars! It is now hers (my daughter’s).

We’ve done a few music classes and I really enjoy them. My daughter is now at the age where she enjoys songs and doing the motions. Her favorite is the hand bells. She loves to hit them on the ground

I have been looking into one of these classes… for my daughter and for me! I have two degrees in teaching music, but none of them are related to teaching the pre-school aged child. The only thing holding me back is financial concerns right now :/ ngiraldi at gmail dot com

I’m so excited about this giveaway! I was an elementary music teacher before having kiddos, and know so well the importance (and fun!) of music for little ones. Both of our boys love music – Asher will actually ask to have dance parties on a fairly regular basis. 🙂 There is a Music Together class taught in our small town at the Arts Center, but I have never been able to justify the cost on top of taking the ECFE classes we do – I would love to have a chance to even slightly defray the cost and experience Music Together with our boys!

I’m surprised there’s actually a location a mile from me! We in a fairly small town in the middle of nowhere so I didn’t think there would be classes.
We took a class when my daughter was a couple months old. She really enjoyed it and I enjoyed that I was guaranteed a good long nap after! Found it amazing that she wasn’t crawling or sitting up yet but it obviously was stimulating her in another way that wore her out. Helped me to evaluate what we were doing on other days when she wasn’t sleeping as well and when I helped her get out energy with dancing she slept so much better.
Looking at signing her up for something this summer perhaps music, dance or swimming.
I liked the posting on FB 🙂
I would love to win this giveaway! This sounds like so much fun! My son is almost two and loves music and singing! I think this is a great program to get kids into music and socializing, Great for the parents as well!!!! 🙂
