Our son, the chatterbox. He repeats nearly everything we say.
Last night while I was rubbing lotion on him, I said, “Is mommy giving you a baby massage?”
He looked up at me from the changing table and said, “Mah-sah-juh!”
After my eyebrows came down to a normal level, I told him I would put his pajamas on. He looked at me and said, “PA-chameez!”
We live in constant amazement, and have lots of laughs as he mimics our language.
But the funniest moment was a week ago…
Typically, if I need something, maybe a fresh diaper or pair of socks, I will call from the top of the stairs. It’s a bad habit, I know. My DH actually hates it when I do this. But because he loves me so much, when I stand at the top of the stairs and yell, “Honey? Honey, can you send up a diaper?” my dear hubby will toss a diaper up, or whatever.
I was upstairs with my son, and he wanted to go downstairs. So I said, “Call Daddy to take you down.”
He trotted over to the gate at the top of the stairs, and suddenly I hear him calling: “Huh-hney! Huh-hney?”
At first I didn’t realize what he was saying, but when I realized he was imitating me, I could not stop laughing!
It is so sweet to see how he pays attention to all we do and imitates our words and actions. I hope he always looks up to us. And that we always give him a good example to look up to.
How have you seen your children follow in your footsteps?
Oh, yes, my 2 year old does this. It’s hysterical. He randomly called his daddy by his name a couple of times. So I started trying to make sure I called him Daddy, but then once I said, “Hey, babe,” and my son started calling him babe. Guess there are worse things he could call him 🙂

So Cute and made me laugh! My son has started this too. He will put away my purse and diaper bag when we get home since he sees my do it each time. He now feeds the dog in the morning with my help since I have taken him to do it everyday. He learns so much seeing what do. He says Ahhhh after he sips a drink, I know now I do that when i have coffee in the morning, funny how kids will let you see your own habits.

Funny! Our daughter does the same thing. She calls us mommy and daddeeee-oooo, calls us both honey and she calls me lovey (which is what I call her)

Love it!!
We have big brothers around…mimicking their actions is quite funny…even when it is swinging the swords around to play 🙂

You made me laugh out loud 🙂
Ours imitates our actions more than our words, although he does that too. He like to scratch your leg even if you don’t need it, or close a drawer when you haven’t taken out what you need, and he throws away minuscule pieces of paper in the garbage because that is what we do.

You’ve inspired me to write a blog posting about some of the things my son is saying that mimic what I say. Kind of similar but different.
I loved this story when you mentioned it a few days ago. That is too charming. He sounds like such a cutie and also sharp as a tack! Don’t you just love their little voices? I recorded Bebe Sister’s last week via my camera. I could not get her to talk with the camera in her face so I just pointed it at the bed. She said some cute little things. It will be a boring video for everyone except her dad and me. However, I wanted to document the words.

Too cute! Our son hasn’t started doing that yet, but he will repeat certain words. Just this morning he said “apple” for the first time while we were reading a book! He pointed at the picture, I said “apple”, and he said “ah-ble”

In a similar fashion, Asher has taken to calling my husband “Babe” on occasion…
