So he can be beautiful…

We are now parents of two little boys. Brothers. Beautiful.

For sake of not confusing them as I continue to blog about our family, let’s call the oldest boy A. And the baby, E.

I wasn’t sure how our oldest son, A., would adjust. He has been a little more emotional around bedtime but otherwise, he’s adapted well to having a little brother.

He’s curious about everything we do for baby E. Why he cries, when he needs to eat, what he’s eating… the fact that “he has hands?” (yes, he does!).

A. will frequently come over from playing to push a kiss onto the baby’s head (I say push because that is how our son kisses – he pushes his face against you but doesn’t do the kissing motion or noise!).

He’ll straighten out the blankets around the baby. Try to offer him toys. He’s even gotten used to the lusty cries of our infant!

Quite often, he’s made some endearing observations…

About a week after getting the baby home, I swaddled him and laid him down to sleep. Big brother A. peered at his baby brother then looked up at us wonderingly and asked, “Why you put him in a cocoon?” (We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar a lot!).

I told him it was a swaddle, like a cocoon, to keep him warm so the baby  can sleep and grow.

A. thought about this for a moment and then asserted, “So he can be beautiful!”

Yes, my dear, so he can be beautiful. As you are, too!

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11

I love when you write just to write. Your sons (sonS!) are beautiful, and that is one of my very favorite Scriptures.

So, cute!!! E has changed so much since I saw him last and do I see some of your side of the family in him? It is hard to tell in the picture. He IS beautiful. Can't wait to see him again.
