He used to thump-thump-thump around the house, crawling so hard and fast, I thought the house would come crashing down on us!
Now he’s walking… and I understand why they use the word “toddle” to describe baby’s first weeks of learning to step-balance-step. The sway. The little wobble. The smile of delight when he realizes he can stay upright after taking a few steps.
Every day that passes brings a new confidence to his steps. I can see he’s on the verge of running just as soon as he gets his “land legs.”
He often can “sneak” up on me now that he’s not making so much noise crawling.
I think he enjoys carrying his toys too, now that he can walk. I love when he brings me a toy car or train held in both his chubby hands.
He wants to walk up and down the stairs now, too. But thankfully, he’s not a “climber” so he hasn’t quite figured out how this would even work! Phew!
And… his third clearly spoken word, after “car” and “da-da” just so happens to be … SHOE! Every time he spots a pair of shoes, he’ll say “SHU!” and get all excited!
He’s more excited now that wearing shoes is a more regular occurrence and not just for show on occasion!
We usually have him wear his PediPed Originals in the house and outside (be careful, driveways and patios can do a number on leather shoes!).
The all-leather soles are soft and flexible, and closely mimic barefoot walking. This lets children use their natural stride and develop the toe-grasp action necessary for walking.
How cute are these Jimmy Navy sneakers? Honestly, we love putting these shoes on our baby – they are so soft, and with the foam insert between the two layers of leather, I can tell they are comfortable to have on little feet. I think we’ve been spoiled by having these PediPeds, because I don’t ever want to put other shoes on my baby at this point! I love the stitching details on the soles, and the easy on/off Velcro closures!
PediPed has three levels of shoes: Original (birth-2), Grip N Go (9 months-3 years), and Flex (up to 7 years). You can keep up with PediPed on Facebook and Twitter!
Does your baby like shoes? What’s a shoe brand you love?
I was sent a product to facilitate this review. All opinions are 100% my own!
I am the same way! Now that it’s summer I have him in some Stride Rite sandals I picked up at consignment but I need the next size “shoe” and I want some more Pedipeds!

LOVE this brand. The ONLY shoe my daughter would allow on her feet when she was learning to walk!

These shoes are so cute! I can’t bear to part with my kids baby shoes. I need to pick out their favorite pair and donate the rest. They are all just so cute!

I haven’t used Pedis before because of the price tag but we looove leather shoes! Most of our daughters shoes have been leather bottoms. The first pair were ballet shoes and those got holes in them but only have a lot of wear. Now I buy mine from WAHMs as they do such an amazing job on them with fun images, like flowers, trucks, animals etc, plus I like being able to support other SAHMs. The last pair we bought on Etsy for only $15 including shipping, which is less than most kid shoes I see at the department stores.
The other trouble I find with purchasing regular shoes with a flexible sole, is that my 2 year old wear size 9. They don’t fit like a glove, I prefer her toes to have room, but still at that size it’s very difficult to find flexible soles. So buying custom made is a must for our DD.

I”ve tried multiple shoe brands, I usually always have a pair of squeaky shoes or sandles and then I like the Little Soles or other eco-friendly shoe brands! I’ve been very tempted by PediPeds but have not had an opportunity to get some since I get our shoes on half off daily deal sites…only way I can afford the shoes I like for my baby girl to wear!
btw, so cute his third word was shoe! SAP is obsessed with shoes as well, when she outgrows them we have to put them in her toy box for her to use as toys…she puts her little people in them and pretends they’re cars going vroom vroom! lol silly kids!

Pedipeds are awesome shoes. We also love See Kai Run (you need to check those out and see about a test/giveaway). For T Rex we would research shoes and purchase them. We’ve since passed many of those down to Bebe Sister who happily wears these boyish shoes. But when we do get “girl-y” shoes they are almost always used. She’s our baby on a shoes string budget. (Hmm – I think I feel a blog posting coming on.). She, by the way, LOVES any kind of shoes. She insisted on wearing some plastic water shoes at the jungle gym the other day. She has a horrible blister from where they rubbed below her ankle bone. But she still insisted on wearing them. Little Miss Independent.
I am going to post the natural family planning one soon, too.
