Birthday Bash: Boynton Board Books Review

It's a book. It's a song. It's a poem. It's... FUN! I have loved Sandra Boynton books even before discovering Moo, Baa, La La La! Her writing is clever, upbeat and rythmic. Her drawings silly and delightful! How can you not love her books?

I was sent a passle of Boynton On Board books to check out with my baby. It was a veritable Boynton library happening in our home! From Perfect Piggies singing a song, to the opposites of Oh My Oh My Oh My Dinosaurs, you will love reading these books to your kids.

My favorite is the Belly Button Book. I swear my baby learned where his "Bee-Bo" is because I read him this book so often. When I ask, "Where's your belly button?" he puts his hand on his stomach. BEE-BO! It's just so fun to say!! Plus, I have to admit belly buttons are just too cute!

Like most babies, my son loves animals, and since animals are a mainstay of Boynton's books, he enjoys pointing at all the pages. Good thing piggies are popular because piggies and ducks seem to be the animals he responds to most readily! I think he just likes to hear me say "OINK!" and "QWACK" in my nasally voice!

Boynton has a way with making words bounce - as I read I find myself kind of making up a tune for the words as I go (oh it's probably painful for anybody but me and my baby who doesn't know better! But it's fun!).

And of course, we all know the Birthday Monsters will definitely be visiting our house soon! I just hope like in the book, they send a clean up crew after they leave. Something tells me my life is not a story book!

Check out the entire selection of Boynton Books at Workman Publishing!

Disclosure: I was sent samples to facilitate this review. I was not compensated in any other way, and all opinions are 100% my own.

  53. My favorite book as a child was a Little Golden Book I bought for 39cents at the now defunct Hook's drugstore called LITTLE MOMMY. I loved playing with dolls and the little girl in the book had the perfect setup with her miniature house furniture and everything a mommy needs to take care of her babies. I don't know why I didn't keep the book, but a few years ago I was telling my husband about this favorite book and on the next Mother's Day he presented me with an original copy of the book that he found on ebay. The price had gone up quite a bit. My 39cent book cost him $65.00. It's displayed front and center on my bookshelf...LOVED that book!

  101. We already have several of these - T Rex's favorite is the PJ one but we also like the Belly Button one and the Doggie one.

We're just starting to get into Dr. Seuss - yeah? Try reading several of those at bedtime. But we are loving the Sneeches which is wonderful because it was a childhood favorite of mine. However, his all time favorite is "Goodnight, Moon" and the sequel "My Room". Bebe Sister will read anything at this point but loves touch and feel books the most. "That's not my pony, it's mane is too fluffy..."

See you online tonight! Looking forward to the party.
