Tot Explorations: Sticker "Money"

I've been working with my son to get him to do "chores" like cleaning up, brushing his teeth...in return I "pay" him a sticker!

To show him what he needs to do, I made a small chart with pictures of the tasks. Then every time he does one, we put a Scotch Restickables in the box. Cleaning up happens several times a day so he might earn a few for that task.

He's still learning that the job has to get done BEFORE the sticker goes on. And that the sticker then STAYS on the chart! It's been pretty funny. But he's starting to grasp it - amazing how quickly they learn, right?

How do you organize and reward chores in your house?

  1. Good behavior earns stickers. Sticker add up to prizes. And prizes equal fun. I think our son is getting it - he wanted to put his most recent sticker for a successful trip to the dentist in his piggy bank.

  2. I have done the chart more times than I can count and it is something that never stays because they lose interest. I never even thought to start one with P! I bet he'd love those stickers! And you are right I can totally see them NOT staying there...lol 🙂

  3. We also use a chart system, but little guy is not motivated to earns stickers. I have sadly resorted to giving him a candy corn for each task he completes. I would love to hear different ideas!
