I've always been one to burn the midnight oil...but when I finally went to bed I'd sleep solidly and wake up when I was rested.
Along came children. I don't think I've slept more than six or seven hours in a row for three years (exception being two nights we went away for our anniversary two years ago!).
Everyone needs a good night's rest to function well, and moms are no exception! I always have a better day after a good night's rest! Moms are always making decisions for their children's safety and well-being, so it's important we be rested to do a great job for these little munchkins!
I've been trying to rebuild my sleep deficit in a few ways:
Obviously, getting to bed earlier helps, and I am working to improve! When I find work keeps me up too late, although it seems weird, I actually stay up a couple minutes MORE to set up for the next morning. Putting out breakfast items, pre-packing bags and picking out clothes are easy to do late at night when I am actually alert. I find I sleep better when a) the house is picked up and b) my mind isn't whirling to remember everything I need to do in the morning. Then the next morning when I'm running a bit slow, I don't have so much to think about.
I also have a secret "weapon" - a quality mattress. We bought a Tempur-Pedic mattress before we got pregnant with our first child. We knew sleep would be important for a pregnant mom and we'd need our rest to chase after kiddos! I'm glad we have a mattress that has remained comfortable despite the many changes my body has experienced the past three years.

In order for me to have a decent night's sleep I need to have a fan blowing. My grandmother always had a fan at the foot of her bed and when I would stay over I stayed in her bed. One thing I've learned is that a good mattress helps a lot. I've been sleeping better since we got a Tempur-Pedic, and I'd love to have some pillows to go with it!

I find that if I don't turn the television off, I don't sleep very well. So I leave it on a timer to go off in 30 minutes. I know you shouldn't have the TV on while trying to go to sleep. Bad Habit!

It's simple advice, but I try to make sure everyone does everything they need to do BEFORE going to bed, so we're not waking up in the middle of the night or waking up early to rush around. Especially using the restroom! Cuts down on my daughter's middle-of-the-night potty emergencies.

Unfortunately I have had to resort to taking sleep medications to be able to get any sleep at all. Even so, I do find that I sleep better when I can get my head on a comfy pillow and find that sweet spot where my head feels cradled and comfortable. I would imagine a Tempurpedic pillow would do just that!

What wouldn't I give? Just about anything comes to mind. I entered menopause four years ago and in that time I think maybe once a year I sleep for a straight six hours. The rest of the time I'm up a dozen times in a five hour period. The hot flashes/night sweats are torture. It was fat easier to have infants!

LOL Dd told me tonight that I wasn't being nice to her because she was crying over a dress and I wasn't all lovey dovey with her trying to get her to stop crying - that I am always nice when she cries! LOL

I know I handle the day so much better if I'm well rested and taking care of little ones makes it doubly important, they deserve a mommy that can take excellent care of them and I can only do that well if I'm not exhausted. I've found that going to bed earlier is much better than trying to sleep in in the mornings and if I get up earlier than the kiddos I get enjoy alone time with coffee and my Bible and that's always a great start to the day. 🙂

oh man I don't think I've slept well in 2 years!! It doesn't help having a futon mat on the floor either. It's just the most economical way to do things.

I have a Fit Bit sleep tracker and I am always amazed when it tells me I awoke 25 times during the night. EEEKKKKK.

I'm a mom to a 3 month old baby, so I'd give anything for more sleep! I personally get a good nights sleep, but my dad doesn't. He has back problems that resulted from a MVA and and a fractured L3. There are many times that he wakes up in the morning and can hardly move, so I just know that this pillow may help him.

My husband actually has been looking for a better pillow recently. We went to the store and he was checking out the regular pillows there, and I had to tell him that it's time to get a high quality one, not a bargain pillow. It really matters!
