Great Non-Candy Gift Ideas

It's something I didn't really concern myself with before becoming a parent, but now I do: all these holidays come with candy attached! I LOVE candy (biggest sweet tooth in the world right here), and my son does too. But we don't want to create a culture in our home where sweets are the norm.

So when Christmas, Valentine's, birthdays, Easter come around... I try to think of other treats that are non-candy but still fun!

I got a great one for you: Animal Hooded Towels from Avon and Tiny Tillia!First, they are something all kids can use. They are cute. They're 100% cotton! They come in a variety of choices: dinosaur, tiger, owl, bee, mouse... there's lots to pick from! With a cute animal hoodie and long wrap-around sides, kids will stay warm while drying off from the tub! And have a little fun.

Our toddler LOVED donning these cute towels from Avon! And the baby - well he's getting used to it but I know when he can toddle around he's gonna love it just as much!

Hooded towels are adorable rolled up and stuffed into a gift basket! (Plus they take up a lot of space so you don't have to get much more!).

Other great non-candy gift ideas:

  • Socks and tights
  • Sunhats and sunglasses (always useful no matter how many you have)
  • Bath sponges in fun colors and designs
  • Bubble bath
  • Cute toothbrushes
  • Animal storage bins - can double as your "Easter basket" and then be used as storage later!
  • Puzzles
  • Piggy banks (throw a few coins in!)
  • Stickers

You can find all these great items in your Avon catalog or online at Avon and Tiny Tillia! Your kids will be so excited to get fun treats they probably won't even ask where the candy is! I figure, if we don't make a habit of giving out candy (I'm sure there will always be a LITTLE candy!) at holidays, it won't be such a big issue as he gets older. That's the direction we're going in at least!

What do you give your kids for holiday treats?

Thanks to Avon/Tiny Tillia for sending items to review! All opinions are 100% my own!

  9. We usually do things like bubbles, sidewalk chalk, crayons and coloring books, play-doh, stuff like that but with our daughter's birthday so close to Easter, she just received most of the non-candy items we would normally get. I also like to add a DVD, a book or two, puzzles, toy cars and stuffed animals. This year I'm thinking a little outside the box and getting her a new nightgown since we're moving her to a big girl bed this weekend (her grandparents got her new sheets), a fun pair of sunglasses, a new pair of rain boots, a new My First Bible and I'm making her a new pillow 🙂 I love the hooded towel idea! She definitely needs one and I hadn't thought of that 🙂 We always try to avoid candy, especially since she has so many food allergies, so new non-candy ideas are always great.

  11. My daughter loves anything with a hood, so these hooded towels would be a hit even without a bath. I wanted to get her some of these new bath playdough-ish bars by Lush, but there were all sold out. Her Easter basket will be stuffed with books instead.
