I have two boys. Two always hungry boys. Unfortunately, their first choice of “food” is usually something along the lines of gummy bears, chocolate, or lollipops!
I’m not against a sweet now and then, or even fruit… but I also know they need to more nutritious, protein-packed foods for their growing little bodies!
When I saw a Cinnamon and Cranberry and a Fig goat cheese log (and has so many recipes for goat cheese on their site for inspiration!), I knew I could turn those into a yummy treat!![]()
My first thought was fondue – do you know there seems to be NO sweet goat cheese fondue recipes out there? Just savory recipes which call for garlic and salt and things that just would NOT go with cinnamon and cranberry! So I thought to make a fondue recipe… but in the end my experiment turned out a little on the thick, so I decided to call it
Sweet Goat Cheese Dip Recipe
Kids love dips, right? So I figured it would distract them from reluctance to try a new food, by putting goat cheese into a snack dip! A sweet goat cheese dip also changes up the usual snack routine a bit, which is a plus.
Added bonus!? I am personally gaga for goat cheese, so now I get to enjoy the kids’ snacks too! (hee hee!). There’s something about the thick and creamy texture of goat cheese, yet with a tart edge… has me always coming back for another piece… and usually, the ingredients in goat cheese are simple with none of the goofy additives in so many foods today.
To make your goat cheese into a dip, simply blend with a hand mixer:
- 8-10 oz goat cheese
- 1/4 cup whole milk yogurt
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- OPTIONAL: Squeeze of lemon juice – if you want a little more zing.
- If you have plain goat cheese, blend in 1-2 Tablespoons of your favorite jam.
Making this sweet goat cheese dip recipe was probably the easiest snack recipe I’ve done! And guess who loved it!? My boys! Especially when paired with a few of their other favorite snacks like pretzels, crackers, pears, and grapes! The boys loved scooping up the softened cheese onto their fruit and crackers!
And I loved knowing they were getting a little extra protein with their usual afternoon snack!![]()
