Natural Crafting with Green Kid Crafts

I am not so creative that I can think of a new craft idea EVERY week. Mostly craft time involves some form of coloring and painting. I browse Pinterest and see cool craft projects, and wish I had time to pull together the pieces to make them with my son.

Fortunately, Penny Bauder from Green Kid Crafts has done the work for me (and you!). With her monthly subscription box service, she brings together her creative side and her business side to offer parents a way to put fun crafts on the table nearly every week of the month!

Each month’s box contains 3 crafts for children ages 3-8. The younger kids can practice basic skills with the crafts, and the older kids can work independently and explore concepts at a higher level.

Green Kid Crafts use non-toxic, natural, and sustainable supplies, and arrive with everything you need including directions. You provide items like scissors, tape, glue – basic crafting supplies you have around the house anyway. We made a shooting star craft that required nothing but crumpling skills (I got those). And, a rocket launcher that just needed a few pieces of tape! My son has really been into rockets and spaceships lately, since we’ve been reading the Berenstain Bears On the Moon book a lot! He had so much fun tossing it into the air, or flying it through “space” in our kitchen!

I did assist him with the crafts, as he’s a few months younger than recommended, but he enjoyed helping, and loved flying his shooting star around the kitchen, and blowing his rocket across the counter!

There’s also a sundial craft in the box and some planet stickers in this box, but I’m saving those for a few months until he can really understand those concepts. Most of the crafts in the box I received would not be long-lasting as they are made of paper mostly, so would eventually wear out; but some of the other crafts I’ve seen on the Green Kid Crafts site include puppets and fun projects kids could play with for quite some time.

My favorite part is how the entire box had a theme, so each week, the crafts lend themselves to building on the knowledge gained from the previous craft. So kids practice crafting skills, and learn valuable concepts about the way the natural world works!
