Our favorite LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester activities!

Brick-building play a big deal in our house. Some days it’s the only deal! So naturally when I found out about LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester just a few hours away, I had to check it out with our boys!! I’ve partnered with Legoland Discovery Center to share our favorite parts of our Legoland experience (and we’ve gone twice now, so it was definitely worth visiting again!).

After walking through a gigantic LEGO minifigure doorway, you step into an interactive LEGO® Factory tour that shows brick making from beginning to end. Kids can play at hands-on learning stations, watch short videos and create a virtual LEGO build on a computer display.

On the way to Miniland®, was the boys’ favorite ride: Kingdom Quest lets you ride a chariot while you zap trolls, skeletons, and rock monsters to earn points and rescue the princess! Kids get a free Collector LEGO® brick to keep at the end of the ride!

Miniland® in Westchester has re-created famous New York City landmarks like Yankee Stadium, Central Park Zoo, the Guggenheim and more! Several interactive pieces come to life or light up at the press of a button and the entire “land” goes from day to night as you explore the scenes. There are so many hidden details in Miniland, you can spend a lot of time discovering all the mini features. At this time of year, there were many Christmas motifs tucked into the display!

Miniland opens up to a large build and play zone where kids can explore many LEGO play areas:

LEGO® Racers – bowls overflowing with LEGO® bricks allow kids to build the race car of their dreams. The boys tested out their creations on several tracks to see how they performed.

The boys spent much of their time at the LEGO Ninjago City Adventure area. The Temple Dojo has a timed Spinjitzu game and a climbing wall. The playground has slides, rope bridges, a spinning tumbler and more active play opportunities, plus a build table and more!

LEGO® Friends playhouse and LEGO® Duplo village offer two additional build areas.

Merlin’s Apprentice Ride let’s kids pedal and soar through Merlin’s library. (Kids under a certain height have to ride with an adult).

The LEGO® Cafe offers fairly healthy snack choices to purchase separately or as lunch combos. There’s also a birthday party room, which would be an exciting party idea!

And even the bathrooms have their own unique decor that was fun to discover!

When you visit, make sure your first stop is the check the times for the LEGO® Master Builder Academy. Kids learn tips and tricks for different build techniques and get to create a build with a Master Builder! The classes are held about once each hour and are only about fifteen minutes long. At the end of the class, the build can be purchased for $5, or simply replaced in the bag.

The LEGO® 4D Cinema was a fun spot. Various short movies play regularly and each offers a 4D experience where you can actually feel the wind, snow, and water mist from the movie! The movies are only about 10-15 minutes long, and you can watch more than one!

LEGOLAND Discovery Center

Our experience at LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester took a little over two hours and we were able to experience every part of the Center without rushing. My boys and their cousin had fun rambling all over, building and playing to their hearts content! We would’ve stayed longer but we had a long ride back home.

The LEGO® store is attached to LEGOLAND® Discovery Center so plan to spend a little time shopping after your visit!

LEGOLAND Discovery Center

LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Westchester gives children a place to be immersed in the world of their favorite toy, interact in physically and mentally stimulating play, and explore the creativity of LEGO® play. Don’t worry, although usually reserved for children, there are special AFOL nights (Adult Fans of LEGO®!).

At various times of year, and on weekends, there are specially themed events, like Holiday Bricktacular in December (weekends only), so check the schedule before you buy tickets online to see if there’s a special event you’d like to attend. You can also buy tickets in person at the front entrance.
