I commented to my husband this weekend that I had a “low-key” week ahead of me. My oldest son immediately said, “What do you mean, you have a “little kid” week?”
Ha! I do, in fact, have a little kid week planned. We have another load of snow falling around us as I type. But the kids have a stack of new books from the library (have you heard how awesome libraries are these days?) with some exciting possibilities for crafts and science experiments for us to enjoy.
Plus, my friend Wendy Paine Miller’s new novel The Delicate Nature of Love just downloaded on my Kindle app (it’s going to be a great snow-day read!). {amazon affiliate}
AND, I just got a bunch of essential oil supplies in to try some natural deodarants, lip balms and more concoctions! It’s going to be a fun low-key (and little kid!) week!
Whether you’re stuck in a snowstorm or enjoying balmy southern weather… Valentine’s Day is coming up this weekend. I never know what to get my hubby because he is so low-maintenance. For Christmas, I made all the guys in my family “Dirt Soap,” which could make a great Valentine’s gift idea for him.
Dirt Soap is really a DIY Coffee Scrub that’s a perfect replacement for your typical orangy pumice hand cleaner. Made with exfoliating coffee grounds, it’s great for getting dirt out! Plus, the caffeine is invigorating for skin! There’s the added benefits of moisturizing coconut oils and the cleansing effect of essential oils as well!
Here’s the quick and easy recipe to make your own Dirt Soap for your guy!
DIY Coffee Scrub “Dirt Soap” Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup castile soap (or other unscented liquid soap)
- 1/2 cup coffee grounds (I use our old grounds, because why not get two uses out of them, but you can use fresh)
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 10 drops Theives oil (optional, but sure smells good)
Instructions
- Blend all ingredients together. If it's too runny for you, add more brown sugar and/or coffee grounds. You should have a scrub that has a slight syrup consistency, but still holds together so you can "scoop" it out of a shallow bowl or jar.
Pour into a squat or shallow lidded jar, and tie a tag explaining the Dirt Soap and its use!
Presto! Easy gift, right!?
Scrub away! And have a low-key (or little kid) week of your own!

Earlier this year I was shocked when I realized my husband was using one of my favorite sugar scrubs (how dare he!?!) I never thought about men wanting to use scrubs until then. This looks like a good one to try.
