Holiday Gift Guide: Boogie Board eWriter at Brilliant Sky Toys & Books!

Chances are, you’ll be doing a lot of toy shopping in the next 6-8 weeks! Get into the holiday spirit as you fight crowds, wait in lines, ask for help from seasonal employees who don’t really know the store, or wander through big box stores of beeping, flashing gizmos whose play purpose is unclear.

Wait. Why would you want to do THAT? Sounds awful! Sounds like you need a better option.

Brilliant Sky Toys & Books!

If a Brilliant Sky Toys & Books location were near me, that is where I would shop. I love “neighborhood stores” whose owners are invested in the needs of the customer.

The shop owners at Brilliant Sky locations (16 locations from North Carolina to Colorado) are dedicated Play Consultants, aiming to delight the buyer and help them make informed toy buying decisions.

I’m drawn to the ideals behind Brilliant Sky Toys & Books: “…the importance of quality, the value of open-ended play and the simple beauty of a child’s fascination and delight.” (Founder, Brent Taylor).

The online store carries some of my favorite toys, like Sophie the Giraffe, Banagrams, and the Sugar Chute by B. Toys. Clearly, Brilliant Sky Toys shares many of my values about toys for kids.

To help create savvy shoppers, each year, Brilliant Sky Toys holds their “Brilliance Awards.” I love this concept and this year’s selections!

Seven distinct toys, ideal for preschoolers to tweens, made this year’s Brilliance Award list. These toys are just seven examples of the thousands of innovative and interesting toys carried by Brilliant Sky shops:

  • Loopeedoo (friendship bracelet maker)
  • Boogie Board
  • Magic Moves Electronic Wand
  • Suspend Game
  • Tobbles (stacking/nesting toy)
  • Candy Cottage (a plastic, reusable gingerbread house!)
  • Neurosmith’s Musical Touch

The Boogie Board eWriter

Each toy has a special feature or new take on a classic game or concept. For example, the Boogie Board – everyone loves to doodle, and we all love the classic Etch-a-Sketch, so why not combine this concept with modern technology?

You get a cool digital blackboard that works as a paperless doodle pad! It comes with a stylus, but you can write with your finger too. Like pen and paper, the Board is sensitive to pressure, creating thin or thicker lines. Erase with the press of a button for more drawing fun.

As I’m a big list-maker, I always have random sheets of paper lying around. Now, I’m using the Boogie Board to create my daily “To Do” list – eliminating paper clutter and waste, and making my before-bed routine entertaining. When my son is older, I’ll pass this on to him. In the meantime, Mommy claims this as “her” toy! (Talk about value? The 3V sealed battery never needs replacing!).

As Brilliant Sky founder, Brent Taylor said, “This is more than just a toy…[it’s] a great blend of technology, engagement, and creative expression.” I agree!

So… all this to say: It’s important to select where you spend your time and money – to get the most out of your spending, AND your experience. Brilliant Sky Toys & Books gives customers an inviting experience, and added value through their educate-the-customer approach to selling toys and games.

I think these are really cool. One way I would use it is to bring with us to restaurants. We usually play family hangman while waiting for our food and I'm always scrounging for paper.

Sounds like a great store too! You know I love that magic moves wand!
