Boys in Haiku {Day 7}

Haiku is meant to capture a simple concrete moment, and although it can be packed with emotion, generally does not use emotional or "feeling" words.

Boys in Haiku Poetry

It's a simple and elegant poetic form that relies on syllable count rather than rhyming (because Japanese language doesn't rhyme the way our English language does).

Line 1 = 5 syllables

Line 2 = 7 syllables

Line 3 = 5 syllables, and generally gives a parting thought or summation

Haiku for my two boys

(can you figure out which is which?)

Arms eagled outward
Running beyond shouting reach
Testing out his wings

Arms backwards you run
Unsteady feet bobbling
little butterfly
