Gift Ideas for Music Lovers

Whether you have a virtuoso in the family or just a kid who moves to the beat of a different drummer, musical gifts are wonderful for everyone. Plato said, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” So no matter the person or occasion, music is a rich and delightful gift to give! Here’s my favorite gift ideas for music lovers.

Gift Ideas for Young Music Lovers

Giving an instrument is a great way to put young music lovers on the path towards a lifetime of musical appreciation! My first choice is always the piano, since I grew up learning piano myself, and believe piano lessons can form a solid foundation of musical knowledge kids can transfer to other instruments.

Of course, anyone who has helped move a piano knows that obtaining an upright or baby grand for your home is no small feat. There is the heavy move itself, which can damage the piano. Then the cost of retuning the piano. Finally, should you want to move or even rearrange the furniture, you have to start all over.

That’s why a piano keyboard is a wise choice for young learners. Our family has a Casiotone LK-S450 keyboard, which is the perfect beginner piano keyboard. It is a good size for most homes or bedrooms, and so intuitive, that even young kids will have no trouble figuring out how to change the settings and make good use of the features.

Speaking of features! This is an affordable keyboard for families, and comes loaded with features that will draw young students back again and again:

  • Key Lighting System illuminates the notes, so you can begin to play in just a few minutes.
  • Step-Up Lesson Mode lets students work through levels of learning.
  • 600 tone variety allow players to develop style and learn nuances of sound.
  • Advanced technology provides great sound quality and a delightful musical experience.
  • Plus there’s an app to help you get started!
  • More features like Tempo control, right hand/left hand practice modes, etc.

We love that this keyboard is versatile: light and compact enough to travel with us, or sit on a table or desk if you don’t have a stand (plus you can attach a strap and put it around your neck if you don’t have a table!). The boys will even play on the floor when they are just having fun with the various tones. The boys took their new keyboard to our homeschool group one week, and used it to create background sounds for our presentation.

A high-quality and multi-functional keyboard like the Casiotone LK-S450 will WOW kids and get them started on a lifetime of musical love! Get this piano keyboard for kids here.

Another great gift that pairs so well with a keyboard is a child-safe headphone set. Adult headphones are both too big and allow sound volumes that can be damaging for young ears. Read about our favorite set of child-friendly headphones here!

Music gifts for music teachers

Learn Classical Music the Fun Way

Of course, music teachers always want kids to learn more about music! As a homeschool mom and teacher, I love having the full set of Maestro Classics CDs to introduce over a dozen classical artists to my kids. The CDs are chock-full of songs, information, and variations that help kids learn more about the composer, their music, musical eras, styles and more! Plus, each CD comes with an insert that has more details and activities!

Check out my full blog post on the Maestro Classic CDs here.

Gift Ideas for a Musical Family

Music Lessons from Music Together. These music classes were our favorite activity when our boys were ages 0-5. It was a time for our family to be together, laugh, dance, and learn more about music. as a family! I highly recommend finding a teacher in your area and gifting a class to someone with little kids!
