Grandparents Day is September 10th, and although it’s always a good day to celebrate our grandparents, sometimes it’s nice to have a special day just for them! I’ve created this Grandparent Interview Printable for you and your kids, and partnered with Gourmet Gift Baskets to share a sweet gift idea too!
Grandparents Day Gourmet Gift Idea
Usually, grandparents are at a stage of life where they have everything they want and need, and are also trying to be healthy into their later years. So a perfect gift idea for either a grandma or grandpa (or both) is the Dried Fruit Platter ($49.99) from GourmetGiftBaskets.com.
Isn’t the array of fruits and nuts delicious-looking! So fresh and tasty, and with something for everyone! Dried apple rings are my favorite, but those richly colored dried plums, peaches, and apricots add to the stunning color of this gift tray. Fancy fruits like Montmorency cherries adorn this plater as well as artfully arranged premium nuts like almonds, cashews, and pecans. There’s 30 ounces (that’s nearly three pounds!) of dried fruits and nuts here!
Plus, when all the tasty treats have been eaten, your grandparents will still have a lovely wooden apple tray as a keepsake, and to serve more of their own favorite treats to guests! I love that this gift has something to enjoy now and later in this way.
If the grandparents aren’t fruit and nut lovers, here’s some other options:
- The Critic’s Choice Gourmet Popcorn Sampler ($34.99) – Popcorn is among the all-time favorites among Grandies (and just about anyone else) from coast to coast. Flavors include: Cheesy Cheddar, Caramel, Buffalo, Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper, Cinnamon & Brown Sugar, Sweet Onion, Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Infused Caramel, Garlic Parmesan, Sour Cream & Chive, and Salt & Vinegar.
- Fruit & Gourmet Gift Tower ($49.99) – A great gift offers Grandies five towers of specially selected fruit and other better-for-you goodies.
- Chocolate Lovers Cheesecake Sampler ($39.99 to $49.99) – Imagine your favorite cheesecake-loving, chocolate-craving grandparents opening up the box to find slices of the following cheesecake flavors just waiting to be sampled: Turtle, Triple Chocolate, Chocolate Swirl, and Chocolate Raspberry.
Gourmet Gift Baskets always has something for everyone, from fruit baskets and towers, to popcorn tins, baked goods, candy arrangements and even coffee and other speciality foods! You can certainly find a gift to fit your budget starting at $19.99 and up. Gifts are guaranteed to be fresh and delightfully presented!
Get to Know Your Grandparents Printable Interview
What better gift to your grandparents than to give them time to spend with your kids. Depending on your family, your kids may see a lot of their grandparents. Or, like when I grew up, I saw a lot of one set of grandparents, but not the other because they lived halfway across the country. So I only got to talk to them maybe twice a year.
To help your kids build a relationship with their grandparents, whether near or far, I’ve created this printable interview (click the preview image or here to get the PDF!)
These questions will help kids overcome shyness around grandparents they may be unfamiliar with, and generate new conversations with familiar grandparents. I’ve tried to create questions to help them get to know their grandparents on a more personal level. Each question is designed to bridge the years between grandparents and grandkids by drawing connections between the two generations. Kids will find similarities and appreciate differences when they learn the answers to these open-ended questions.
Print this out for each child and have them ask some or all of the questions on their next visit. An adult can write in the answers (or older children can do it themselves) – or video tape or record the interview! It’ll be a keepsake for years to come for your children, and the conversation will delight the grandparents!
Thanks to Gourmet Gift Baskets for inspiring this post and providing a sample for my review! All opinions are my own.
