I love the chance to start fresh. Start over. Make changes. Look back. Set goals. Improve.
As I look at last year – there were obvious high points. But I certainly did NOT meet the majority of my goals. So this year, instead of setting all new ones, I’m just “recycling” my resolutions and goals for this coming year – with a couple of tweaks. I figured, if I didn’t get it done last year, then I still have work to do!
So here are my Stars from last year and Wishes for the future!
STARS from 2012
- I got a DSLR camera
- We had Baby #2!
- My blog got a fresh look
- We took the kids to visit NYC
- And visited a lot of local places too – here, here and here!
- Started preschool! My son can count to 10 and knows all his ABC’s
- I cleaned out my spare bedroom (but have a lot more work to do!)
- We ate a lot more fresh and organic foods and even did a cleanse diet we all actually enjoyed!
- And made strawberry freezer jam! Mmm. Tastes just like fresh!
WISHES for 2013
- Have my oldest son potty trained (it’s been a long, hard road!)
- Take cooking classes (I got a gift certificate for Christmas!)
- Also photography classes too!
- Go to bed before midnight (almost never happened at all last year!)
- Write down the gifts in my life (yes, I’ve been reading 1000 gifts – it’s actually kind of inspiring!)
- Pen a children’s book – still a top writing dream
- Bake bread and rolls for dinner!
- Date nights are a must – we had about two last year and need to focus on this more!
- Order more blog business cards – I ran out!
- Develop my blog into more personal writing and less branded posts (Sorry sponsors, I love you but I need more family time!)
- Go camping!
- Read more books
- Enlarge photos of our travels to decorate the house
- Attend a blog conference – maybe. I’m not so sure of this goal anymore as it seems many conferences are just about swag and parties. That’s not really what I’m after.
- Write more poetry
- Blog more about local places
- Visit with family more often
- Go for long walks
- Spend less (especially on temporary stuff)
- Reduce clutter (I’ve been working on donating a lot of items we don’t need or use!)
There… that list looks just fine to me. Sure they are mostly repeats but… a good goal is still good a year later, right?
What are your goals for the new year? Stick with me as I do more reflection and goal-setting this week to prepare myself for a new year!

I too would like to blog more often about local places, especially since it's more unique that my breastfeeding or knitting posts. :)

I need to write out my goals. Thank you for the reminder.
I am SO happy your goal of having baby number # transpired and he is so healthy, happy, and BIG!
I actually have been working on a series of children's books. They are only going to be for our kids and close family but I may send you a copy when the first is done. My sister is working on the illustrations for them, too. I do like how we have this goal in common.
Oh, both hubby and I are really going to work hard at getting to bed earlier. We are almost never asleep before midnight.
