Keep My Words {Day 30}

I’m tired. Bone tired. Now, usually I’m saying that about mothering and homemaking but… tonight, I’m saying it about WRITING!

This has never happened to me before – I feel like I’ve been on a marathon crunch of writing this month, and it’s felt good, and inspiring, and challenging, and… boy am I NOT feeling like writing this post.

Which, reminds me of the MAIN THING I’ve learned throughout this entire process – the process of writing is SO MUCH like the process of parenting. Sorry for all the caps. I am shouting tonight, only b/c I am too tired to edit in some lovely italics. That. Tired.

So here’s my small little poem for the last day. I am definitely NOT going out with a bang but… have to finish. I’m too tired to make a fancy graphic right now so … if this post is rather bare when you read it, my apologies!

Keep My Words (from Proverbs 7:1)

Now I lay two sons

Down to their sleep

I pray the Lord

My words they’ll keep

long after the fall of day,

these words of mine

will guide their way.

Now I lay this pen aside,

in feeble verse,

I humbly tried

recording love

and hope it keeps

deep in their hearts

whilst they sleep.

For when they wake

as older men

and turn these pages,

see what I’ve penned,

I pray the Lord,

His Word they’ll keep

and now I lay me

down to sleep.

Good night, little lads.

Mommy.

This is so sweet! I love love love it. It's how I feel after my boys are down for the night (or nap, like right now), but your poetic words are sweeter than what's running through my head most of the time. :) I would love to frame this poem and put it up outside their rooms. Any consideration of making it a printable? If not, any interest in collaborating together on one? Feel free to contact me. :) I'm planning to make it one for myself, at least!

Somehow, I'm just now visiting your blog even though I've seen your name throughout the challenge. Following you on Bloglovin!

As a mom of a boy (and a girl, too!), I have just loved your series! You don't need any fancy graphics to show your sweet love toward your boys. I loved today's poem!

So nice to meet you and visit your lovely blog.

Blessings to you and your boys, GiGi
