Fall mornings feel made for devotions.🍂📖
Some of our favorite devos for teen boys are simple and practical. We keep them accessible in the living room and take a few moments each day to reflect. Sometimes the boys read on their own, and sometimes we read together and share our takeaways. It’s about showing up consistently and helping them build their own relationship with God.

1. Keep it short. Aim for 5 to 10 minutes. Teens are more likely to engage if it doesn’t feel like a chore but a natural part of their day.
2. Keep it consistent. Sure there are always those days that get out of hand, but then get back to it.
3. Let them choose. Give them a selection of devotionals or Bible study guides and let them pick the one that interests them. The most—ownership pays off!
4. Pair with a routine. Attach devotions to a daily rhythm like breakfast morning tea or after a chore predictability makes it easier to stick with.
5. Focus on discussion not perfection. Encourage them to reflect and share one Takeaway it is a conversation, not a lecture.

Above all, make sure they are reading the actual Word of God! Devotional books are great for focusing on a topic or helping teens learn how to study, but they cannot replace the actual words of scripture.

You might think older kids won’t want to join in

You might think older kids won’t want to join in the same traditions they loved when they were little.
But I’m finding that when we keep showing up, they still come along.
The moments might look different — a little more teasing, a little less hand-holding — but they still matter.
🍂 Keep the traditions.
They anchor our kids to home, to family, and to faith.
